Tournament sponsors are assigned to professionally operated charter boats for a morning of exciting salmon fishing. Each boat holds up to
six participants, and sponsors can invite family, friends, employees,
customers … or simply support with their donation. The tournament also
offers fishing opportunities for young patients currently undergoing
treatment, and sponsorship of these boats is available.
The tournament is run by volunteers from Tri-Cities Kiwanis, and food
and prizes are donated by West Michigan individuals and businesses.
Boats Depart at 5:45 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. from Chinook Pier, Grand Haven. Refreshments are available before departure. Boats Return at 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and all fish are sent to weigh-in. A hot dog lunch is provided. A short program precedes the awarding of prizes.
Grand
prizes are awarded for the largest fish in Sponsor and Child Guest
categories. Recent prizes have included family yacht cruises, chartered
fishing trips, and even a brand new kayak!
Some facts about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital:
Since opening 50 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. Teams of doctors come from around the world to study with St. Jude and utilize St. Jude’s protocols in their treatment centers. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted to children.

If the tournament is canceled due to inclement weather, we will have
each set of participants set up a separate day and time to fish with
their boat captain.
